About Us

We are a general accountancy practice in the Watford area, with a well qualified and experienced team who can deal with pretty well everything that comes along. We are accessible and we aim to be helpful and friendly, while providing a professional service. Our clients range from individuals to fairly substantial businesses. Our charges are time based, and reasonable.

Robert Clow has been in practice as a Chartered Accountant since 1975 and started Robert Clow & Co. in 1981. In 1998 his daughter Sandra Higgins, also a Chartered Accountant, joined him in partnership. Both have wide experience in dealing with small to medium sized businesses. There are  three directors of Robert Clow & Co Ltd; Robert Clow, Sandra Higgins and Daksha Lakhani. Sandra Higgins deals mainly with the larger clients, including those requiring audits, and regulated businesses. As well as trading companies she handles the accounts of solicitors, charities and pension funds. Daksha Lakhani, a qualified Chartered Accountant, deals with clients' accounts generally, specialising in those cases which are complicated or unconventional. In addition to the three directors there are ten members of staff dealing with different aspects of clients' affairs.

Azadeh Mohammadi joined us in 2006 as an accounts manager. Working alongside Azadeh is Iwona Sieradzki our assistant accounts manager. Rosemary McLaughlin and Mark Pomiankowski are the tax department, dealing mainly with clients' personal tax affairs. Rosemary worked in the Inland Revenue for many years and Mark is a member of the Institute of Management Accountants.  Ewa Adamowicz  in our bookkeeping department specialises in all aspects of VAT and works with Eman Abdu, who has recently joined us in the position of junior bookkeeper.  Together they maintain the accounts for various clients within our office, for some clients providing them with management information such as quarterly and annual accounts.    We are happy also to have the assistance of June Ooi a Sage specialist, and experienced in many other areas of accountancy and bookkeeping, who often visits clients to provide support.  Iwona combines her work in the accounts department with a supervisory role in our payroll department which is run by Christine Byrne.  Sarah Allison looks after company formations and statutory matters. And Mary Gillings our office manager deals expertly with the general office administration.

Finally Robert Clow himself keeps an eye on work as it passes through the office and is the person to speak to about business and tax planning matters. Since the creation of the Area Compliance Offices we are becoming more and more involved with Revenue enquiries and investigations, and our general approach is to take a fairly robust, but sensible, attitude on behalf of our clients. As a rule it is Robert deals with these matters. Our directors and staff are well qualified and experienced, so we are efficient and don't waste our time or clients' money. We think we provide good value, and clients tend to remain with us for many years.
